Bootcamp today was fun :) our wonderful instructor overslept, so a few of the girls took charge and led us through our own workout! We all got to decide what to do.
It was cool because we all had knowledge of what would work, and also no one left!
I kicked butt.
haha! oh man I read the article/blurb because I actually laughed when I saw this
Rant
So, I’m on a pregnancy/babies forum, because I love to plan things. I can’t wait for us to have a bunch of kids, but we’re obviously waiting until after we get married, and preferably until we can get a house. But I love to learn and talk to people about things I’m interested in. So I joined this forum, to find other people who have/want kids who are into home/natural birth, against circumcision, use cloth diapers, etc. All the crazy stuff I like.
So it seems like at least half of these women are seriously and wearisomely baby crazy - or maybe just plain crazy. Many of them are clearly trying to trick their partners and “accidentally” get pregnant. (If your guy is pulling out when he knows you’re fertile, he’s NOT READY. Stop obsessing and TALK TO HIM [NOT during sex] Maybe he’ll be ready if you don’t demand to have sex every other day and blame his sperm that you’re not pregnant yet. Oh, you don’t want to do that? Because you know he doesn’t want to have kids [right now?]).
Some of them are so crazy about having a baby they’re willing to do it with anyone when it’s clear the relationship is doomed. I know you think a baby will save it, but it only makes it worse if it’s not strong. They do stupid shit like take a pregnancy test a few days after ovulation, and when they get a negative, say they’re going to demand their money back from the company because it’s not working. There is NO WAY a test can tell that early because you’re NOT PREGNANT YET. Even if you will be pregnant in a week, if you’re not yet, a test cannot tell. They get men to take the pregnancy tests because they think they’re not working, and then when the men get the same negative result, say that proves the test isn’t working. They interpret every PMS sign as a pregnancy sign - EVEN GETTING THEIR PERIOD.
We want to have a whole bunch of kids. Probably like 6. And as much as I can’t wait, I can’t imagine tricking my man into having kids earlier than he’s ready for. Maybe it’s because I didn’t even want kids before, but I think it’s because, oh I dunno, I have a sane, healthy relationship?
I realize that for a lot of women, getting pregnant turns out to be difficult. It can be stressful. But stress is so unhealthy for your body, and shouldn’t you be doing the best you can to keep yourself healthy? More importantly, shouldn’t both people be ready if you’re trying to get pregnant? If a mistake happens that’s one thing, but if you’re desperately trying to get pregnant, and the guy isn’t ready, there’s so little chance that will work out well.
Calm the fuck down and stop making me think I could be pregnant when I get my period, FFS.
Checking in at Hartford International Airport. Just logging this to record one of the more bizarre experiences of my life. After the self check-in Kiosk had an error, I grudgingly walked over to check-in lady. She smiled at me.

Back to bootcamp after a week off! It was a good workout, but really really hard after the week long vacation the weather afforded us.
I did do a ton of pushups on my feet instead of knees without even realizing it!
Me: you’re occasionally right baby. Kyle: even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.
Bootcamp Today
So today was the end of the third week. I think I did awesome today. We started out with a CRAZY drill that I had a hard time with - we had to run up the stairs sideways (try turning 45 degrees and go up) after doing 30 of a tricep exercise and 10 incline pushups. When we got to the top of the parking garage (4 flights of stairs) we did 10 jump squats, then ran a bit. Then repeat. I was 100% miserable doing that, especially since ANYTHING sideways is hurting my ankles/shins. By the end I was just going up the stairs regularly.
After that it got much better. We did another drill where we did side rows, ran with our weights, bicep curls, ran with our weights (over hurdles, which I can’t do yet), then side squats with bicep curls, then weighted V-ups. It was one of the first drills where I wasn’t in the last third, I was in the middle.
The last drill we just did lunges and rows, then squatting bicep curls, but I did good at it and was in the first third of people.
I feel great! I have only lost 3 lbs since the first day of camp, but I know I have lost plenty of fat and gained muscle just because of all of the improvement I have made.
Disagree! I LOVE Ke$ha for her pop-noise, and I LOVE Country music…and this is one of the most awful performances I’ve heard. Let’s hope part of the awful is the quality of the recording…but yeah she just sounds horrible here.
Apparently, Ke$ha can actually sing. It’s too bad she didn’t go the country route. Love her either way.

Omg bootcamp was hard this morning, mostly just because of my shins! Wednesday I went even though I felt sick and I forgot my shin sleeves. Well that was SO bad!! They hurt so fast and so bad, and got really swollen.
I remembered the sleeves today but my shins still hurt. We did a trail run to start with dips, incline push ups, lunges, squat jumps, and step ups. Then we took our weights up the parking garage ramp and then ran back down, did v-ups, rope climbs and twisters, then lunges up the ramp. Once we got up there we did some arm exercises with the weights, then back down to do it again. Last drill was up the ramp again this time carrying our weights, stopping to do bicep curls in a squat.
We finished with plank up/downs which I finally was able to do! Also pushups, I finally all 10 without stopping. So that was good.
So sore!
Bootcamp was good this morning - except I didn’t wear my new Calf sleeves and my shins hurt soooooo bad when jogging that I had to walk. We did whole body today. Bicep curls, high knees, mountain climbers, power skipping, rowing, sprinting, kettle ball swing, repeat. Then dips, incline pushups, weaving, one leg squats, repeat. Finished with shoulder press, cardio, tricep press, ice skaters, chest fly, jumping jacks.
Class always goes quick!
To Run.
A very popular question in my ask box goes something like this:
“I want to start running. How did you start? What advice do you have for someone who wants to start running?”
And the first thing you have to realize is very simple…
In the beginning, running sucks.
It sucks bad.
It took me a month and a half before I started to enjoy myself. God Almighty herself could try to pick it up, and it would, in fact, suck.
It’s simply not fun in the beginning.
And I’m not entirely convinced the actual act of running is ever fun. But as bad as it does suck in the beginning, it gets good. And then it gets really really good.
I don’t know exactly how to answer this question, so all I can tell you is what worked for my brother and me. We didn’t know what to do, so we just ran.
If you want to start running, start walking. Then start jogging.
If you want to run faster, run faster occasionally.
If you want to run far, run a little farther next time. And the next time go farther than that.
If you want to run a race, sign up.
If you want to break your PR, train harder.
If you want to run 13.1 miles, do it.
If you want to run 26.2, do that too.
If you want to run inspired, fall in love. Or watch Meet Joe Black.
And if you start to feel an injury, take a break. And then keep running.
There really is no science behind it. Find some nice shoes. Or run barefoot. Run for the right reasons. Hell, run for the wrong reasons. Run because it inspires you. Run to lose weight. Run to get the girl. Run to get the dude. Run because it’s all that makes sense in this weird-ass world.
But you don’t have to.
All I know is what worked for me. And that was to run. And it saved my life. I suggest you give it a shot. If it doesn’t work for you, find something that does. And rock it hard.
